The requirements to apply for social security benefit are: 1- Italian citizenship, EU citizenship or being a long term EC visa holder 2- effective and permanent residence in Italy 3- being 65 years old or more 4- an income in 2014 lower than euros 5.818,93, if the retired person lives alone, or an income lower than euros 11.6387,86 if the retired person is married 5- having lived in Italy for at least 10 years
